In London last week Hedgweek announced the winners of this year’s Hedgeweek Awards an annual ceremony recognizing the best hedge funds in a large variety of categories.

The 2012 winner of the Best Asian Hedge Fund Administrator award was BNY Mellon’s Alternative Investment Services division, a hedge fund manager which provides services for alternative assets, including single manager hedge funds, funds of hedge funds and private equity.

The AIS division of BNY Mellon has over $450 billion of assets in custody. Those assets are administered globally in such countries as Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Poland, Singapore and the United Kingdom. They also have locations in five states in the US.

The distribution of the Hedgeweek Awards is determined by a vote from the magazine’s 41,000 subscribers. Included among those subscribers are both individual and institutional investors, fund managers and other industry experts. When the awards were announced a spokesperson for Hedgeweek said that the awards

“honor the resilience of the industry as it copes with a succession of financial and economic upheavals that began nearly five years ago, and that have ultimately contributed to its manifestly increased maturity and professionalism.”
