June 14, 2011 James Heinsman Hedge Fund News

The Warren Buffet power lunch eBay auction was closed last Friday. This year it raised the most ever: $2,626,411. The winner has been kept anonymous.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the winning bid was $2,345,678. The donor then added more in a promise to surpass last year’s bid by $100.

The money is to go to the Glide Foundation, a faith-oriented foundation in San Francisco which works to provide social services in the area. Warren Buffet’s late wife Susan volunteered with the organization.

Two years ago, Salida Capital, a hedge fund firm based in Toronto, won with a bid of more than $1.6 million.
This year’s power lunch will be held at the Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in New York.
