John Shen, chief investment officer of the Hong Kong-headquartered Everbright Capital said yesterday that two new hedge funds will begin this week as Everbright Capital Management Ltd. Heading up the first two funds will be Ali Ahmed, the past global leader of equity trading at Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc; and Adam Weinrich, who was the managing director at the New York-based hedge fund Jana Partners LLC.
“Some managers are keen to come to Asia, tempted by the opportunities the region promises,” Shen, age 45, said. “Potential investors in Hong Kong and China want to diversify and invest outside Asia. Asia may be too highly correlated with their existing investments.”
